Super Micro Computer (SMCI) co-founder Yih-Shyan "Wally" Liaw's co-defendant, Ting-Wei "Willy" Sun, pleaded guilty to conspiring to send cutting-edge chips to China in violation of US export controls, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing court documents.

Sun, a former outside contractor described by US authorities as a "fixer," entered the plea as part of an agreement with prosecutors, according to the filings. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 8, 2027. Liaw has pleaded not guilty, the report said.

Another defendant, Ruei-Tsang "Steven" Chang, a former general manager in Super Micro's Taiwan office, has not appeared in the case, Bloomberg said.

Super Micro is not named as a defendant. It said in August, following an independent probe, that its current senior management had no knowledge of the alleged scheme, according to the report.
