Synopsys (SNPS.US), a global leader in chip design software development, is planning to explore partnerships with Chinese AI laboratories to improve chip design processes, following its multi-year agreements with Amazon (AMZN.US) and OpenAI involving chip design technology.

According to Ravi Subramaniam, Chief Product Management Officer at Synopsys, the company is exploring partnerships with Chinese AI labs to develop similar tools tailored for the Chinese market. As demand for model training and deployment continues to grow, new AI-driven chip design tools are essential to keep pace with this trend.

"We have a set of U.S. government regulations that we must comply with, and whatever we do, we will adhere to these regulations as we expand our business," Subramaniam said. "We believe China has its own growth drivers."

Synopsys' agreement with OpenAI involves the development of GPT-Synopsys, a specialized model optimized to use Synopsys EDA tools for semiconductor design workflows.
